Project assignment

In her practice as a dentist and dental hygienist, Adéla Tikovská from Adéla Dental Care noticed that many patients struggle with thorough tooth brushing. She therefore decided to develop a personalized toothbrush that would simplify and improve the efficiency of daily dental hygiene.

Brain4Industry supported the project by developing the first prototype and co-creating an algorithm that allows the toothbrush to be automatically generated from patient data and produced directly in the dental practice using additive manufacturing.

Solution development

This innovative solution is being developed in collaboration with the Brain4Industry team, which specializes in transforming ideas into functional technological solutions. The shared objective is to create a toothbrush whose shape can be automatically generated from a digital dental scan and manufactured using additive manufacturing.

Technology testing

One of the first steps of the project was to verify whether fine toothbrush bristles could be produced. Brain4Industry prepared several bristle samples and tested their length, angle, and stiffness to identify a functional solution.

At the same time, the team worked on selecting a suitable biocompatible material that would meet strict requirements for oral use while enabling reliable production using advanced manufacturing technologies.

Algorithm-based personalization

Another part of the development is an algorithm capable of automatically generating a personalized toothbrush design based on a digital dental scan. This approach could enable customized toothbrushes to be produced directly in dental practices.

Project outcome

The collaboration with Brain4Industry enabled Adéla Dental Care to access advanced technologies and experts who guided the project from the initial idea to its implementation.

Thanks to funding supported by the European Union and the National Recovery Plan, the entire solution was delivered at a fraction of the market cost. Looking for innovation opportunities?
