{"id":9905,"date":"2026-06-10T10:07:49","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T08:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/?post_type=case-study&#038;p=9905"},"modified":"2026-06-10T12:11:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T10:11:25","slug":"defence-product-development","status":"publish","type":"case-study","link":"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/reference\/defence-product-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of Ultra-Lightweight Accessories for the AR-15 Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TITAM s.r.o. was looking for a&nbsp;solution for a&nbsp;complete set of components that would combine ultra-low weight, high strength, and readiness for serial production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Brain4Industry, we guided the client through the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/\">product development process<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/mechanical-design-product-development\/\">initial concept and digital design<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/prototyping-product-development\/\">prototyping<\/a> and preparation for serial production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Innovative Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The project involved the development of several key components designed to meet demanding requirements for strength, ergonomics, and weight optimization. <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/metal-3d-printing-additive-manufacturing-metal-parts\/\">Additive manufacturing<\/a> played a&nbsp;crucial role, enabling the creation of complex geometries and lightweight structures that would be impossible or highly inefficient to produce using conventional manufacturing methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key element of the solution was an advanced lightweight structural design that minimized component weight while maintaining excellent mechanical performance. The development process consisted of multiple iterations, including <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/mechanical-design-product-development\/\">conceptual design<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/mathematical-simulations-engineering-simulations\/\">engineering simulations<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/prototyping-product-development\/\">physical prototyping<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From the outset, the project was defined by several major technical challenges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Achieving extremely low weight while maintaining strength and durability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selecting the optimal material and manufacturing technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing lightweight structures optimized for additive manufacturing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing multiple components with different mechanical, ergonomic, and functional requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating a&nbsp;consistent design across the entire product portfolio.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project Outcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brain4Industry successfully developed a&nbsp;complete set of ultra-lightweight accessories based on a&nbsp;unified lightweight design concept and prepared for serial production. The final solution includes ultra-light handguards, an ergonomic grip, and minimalist iron sights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By leveraging advanced engineering methods and<a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/\"> additive manufacturing technologies<\/a>, the project significantly reduced the weight of individual components while delivering a&nbsp;solution ready for industrial-scale production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project also included the optimization of surface <a href=\"https:\/\/brain4industry.cz\/en\/services\/am-research-and-product-development-manufacturing-systems\/postprocessing-product-development\/\">finishing processes<\/a>, resulting in the final khaki appearance.
