Predictive Maintenance Application (AI Production)

Predictive maintenance is a modern and highly flexible approach to machine and equipment maintenance when the actual condition of equipment is monitored using sensor data and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms. In this way, potential problems can be identified before they occur and addressed effectively.

 

What makes predictive maintenance unique and when does it pay off?

 

While reactive maintenance addresses problems after they occur and preventive maintenance is performed at regular intervals regardless of the current condition of the equipment, with predictive maintenance, service intervals and tasks are determined by the AI algorithm based on the current state of the machine. The condition can be determined based, for example, on measured temperature, vibration or image data.

This approach results in increased component life, reduced scrap, but most importantly, in significantly reduced unplanned machine downtime. Preventive maintenance thus makes most sense in machines that are critical to the overall production.

In the Beneš and Lát foundry, the most important machines are the casting machines themselves; the whole production effectively revolves around them and their downtime is very painful.
